    South Korea
South Korea, known as the Republic of Korea, lies in East Asia on the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. The country is mountainous, with the East Korean Mountains in the east and an alluvial lowland along the Yellow Sea in the west. Its highest peak is the Hallasan volcano on Jeju Island. The monsoon climate brings hot summers and mild winters, with rainfall from June to September. The best time to visit is spring or autumn, when temperatures are moderate and nature offers beautiful views.
